Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner in Black Ink

This is the best eyeliner I have ever used. Hands down. I've decided to dedicate a post to it since I have recently finished my first pot of eyeliner EVER.
I bought Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner in black ink in the Winter of 2008 when I got sick of using eyeliner pencils. I wanted a more precise line and something that was easy to work with. After reading reviews online, I decided to splurge (I believe it costs $21, which was more than I had ever spent on eyeliner before.). After finding the right brush to use with it (see here) it was love and instant holy grail material.

Here's what I LOVE about this eyeliner:

Texture: It's a gel, so it is pretty lightweight and thin in terms of consistency. However, at the same time, it's also very creamy. The consistency is SO easy to work with and I am able to pick up as much or as little product as I want. It also doesn't dry too fast or stay wet for too long. I have the perfect amount of time to manipulate the eyeliner into the shape I want without it drying too fast! It also goes on sooo smoothly!
Color: "black ink" is the perfect black. It does not turn grey or blue like some black eyeliners. It's deep and rich. I also own the color "chocolate shimmer ink" which is a gorgeous brown. There are tons of other colors I would love to try (i have been eyeing "ivy shimmer ink" for a while now). The pigmentation is really amazing: one swipe gives me rich color.
Staying Power: This stuff does. not. budge. Seriously. I apply it in the morning and by the end of the day, the rest of my makeup might be creasing and melting away, but not this eyeliner. It stays on until I take it off and it has never smudged. It is also incredible on the waterline and the only eyeliner that stays there as well. I like to dip an eyeliner pencil in the pot, then apply to the waterline.
Quality/Price: Initially the price does seem like a lot. You get 0.10 oz for $21. The thing is, this little pot lasted me nearly 3.5 years. That is a shmillion uses, right? lol So i would say the price was most definitely worth it. I've heard of gel eyeliner drying out fast but I didn't have a problem with that. I always made sure the cap was closed, but that's about it!

Here's the (basically) finished pot! Can't believe it!
In all honesty, I have not tried a lot of other gel eyeliners. I've tried Benefit, Smashbox, and Stila Smudgepots (along with numerous eyeliner pencils) and Bobbi Brown is my favorite, no question. I have no bad things to say about this eyeliner. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone because I really think it is a fantastic product. I will definitely continue to repurchase this eyeliner, but I probably won't have to worry about doing that for another 3 years ;)

Let me know what your favorite eyeliners to use are or if you've tried Bobbi Brown's!?

May Favorites!

Can't believe it's already June! It seemed like May just completely flew by! Here's a few favorites I had from last month...

Jack Black Lip Balms: These are my favorite lip balms EVER. Seriously, if you have terribly chapped lips, you NEED to try these! My favorite is the mint, then the lemon chamomile. They are just fantastic lip balms: your lips not only feel moisturized immediately, but once the balm wears off they really stay smooth (unlike some balms I've tried where you have to keep re-applying a million times in an hour). I especially like to put it on right before bed so I wake up with nice soft lips!

Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder: This powder is fantastic! I use this to set my tinted moisturizer everyday and it's fantastic at keeping my combo/oily skin under control. I love that it's translucent, blends really well and it's undetectable!

Nars Laguna: It's pretty obvious by the amount of pan showing that i LOVE this bronzer! Clumsy me dropped it a week ago so although the product didn't break, the hinges did. It gives a very natural glow to the skin and the fine sparkles in it are undetectable once you apply. I'm also a fan of the darker one Nars Casino, but I need to apply that one more carefully to avoid looking too fake tanned and dark. Laguna is definitely a favorite...I'm trying to use up some other bronzers I have before repurchasing since it's a bit pricey, but I know I'll come back to it!

Mac Soba: I rediscovered this in my eyeshadow stash in the beginning of the month and found myself reaching for it quite a lot. It's a medium brown/tan/caramel color with gold shimmer. Sort of looks like a boring color in the pan but it really works well in the crease or on the lid smoked out with darker browns. Perfect if you're in a rush or if you want a soft neutral look.

TheBalm Mary-Lou Manizer: You can see my post here on this highlighter. I really have no bad things to say about it, I've been wearing it nearly every single day since I got it!

Let me know if you've tried any of these items or what products you loved most last month!

April Favorites!

Here's some products I've been loving the past month!

-Real Techniques Blush Brush: This is one of the brushes from Samantha Chapman's brush collection sold at Ulta (she's one half of the Pixiwoo sisters on youtube!). It may be a bit big for some people, but for me this brush applies both sheer and pigmented blushes flawlessly! The shape is just perfect for defining my cheekbones smoothly without creating a terrible stripe of blush. And the best part? It's VERY affordable!

-Rock and Republic Blending Blush: I've been using this brush to blend out colors in the crease and it does the job perfectly. It's a bit too fluffy for precise blending, but it does a wonderful job blending the crease with a bit of Mac Wedge at the tip!

-Mac Hush Cream Colour Base: I've been using this to give a glow on the tops of my cheekbones. It's a very pretty pearl with a touch of peachy/pink.

-Nars Mekong: Ever since I got this eyeshadow I've been using it nearly every other day. It's my favorite for defining the outer v and running along the outer part of the lower lashline. It's such a gorgeously pigmented sparkly brown and it goes with just about any other colors.

-Revlon Colorburst Lipgloss in Peach: This is a more recent acquisition so it's not included in the swatches I posted. It's a really pretty orangey-peach gloss that I can throw on alone or over any nude or orange-toned lipstick. I really love the colorburst glosses, they are fantastic quality for the price!

-Rock and Republic Eyeshadow in Ambition: Been using this color towards the inner part of my eye with brown or green eyeshadow looks. It has a gorgeous pearly yellowy-gold sheen.

-Bobbi Brown Corrector: I found this at my CCO a few weeks ago and it has become a vital part of my foundation routine. I don't have very dramatic under eye issues, usually only when i'm extremely tired however the corrector still makes a huge difference to me. It just brightens my eyes so I always look very fresh and awake. I set it with Laura Mercier transluscent powder and have not had a problem with creasing. Really wonderful product!

-Illamasqua Blush in Hussy: This was a purchase I made earlier this month when the Sephora VIB 15% sale was happening. It's a gorgeous matte bright pink watermelon. I will have to do a separate post on this blush because it is SO wonderful, I am in love. I have been itching to splurge on more of their blushes because the quality is impeccable!

What are your favorite products at the moment?!

I'm back + January favorites

Helloo!

Sorry I'v been MIA (missing in action) for so long... But, now the exams are almost over I'll be posting more often again, and I'll start off with favorites.I'm gonna try and do these monthly. I did say try ;)

So here are my january favorites:

* MAC - Mineralize Skinfinish Natural (in Medium): I don't have good skin, so I usually wear foundation with a pretty heavy coverage. On days that I wanna give my skin a break and don't want a thick layer of foundation, I use Mineralize Skinfinish Natural to even out my skintone. When I am wearing liquid foundation, I like using it as my setting powder.

* The Balm - Balms Away: I ordered this from the Beauty Queen webshop a while ago and I've been using it since to take off my makeup. On the back it says: "Apply a dollop onto closed eye. Keep eye closed. Move product in circular motion allowing makeup to break up (30 seconds). Wipe away with soft tissue and see amazing results." It does break up the makeup nicely and I sometimes use it on my entire face before I wash it with a cleanser. It makes it so much easier to take off mascara and waterproof makeup. I don't have to rub my eyes as much so I don't pull out as many lashes. Plus, the balm feels really moisturising.

* Max Factor - False Lash Effect: This has been my favorite mascara for almost a year now. I've been loving it since I first got it. I think this is my 4th one and I have 2 backups lol. Whenever it goes on sale I pick one up cause it's quite expensive (€16.99). I plan on trying Covergirl's Lashblast next cause it has the same type of brush and it's cheaper (about €10 I think). As far as I know, Covergirl is only sold at Delhaize in Belgium and only the bigger ones. I'll try and remember to look for it next time I'm close to a Delhaize.

* Les Cosmétiques - Makeup wipes: I think this brand is only sold at GB or Carrefour, but i love these wipes. I use them after the Balms away and they work great. And they're pretty cheap too!

* The Body Shop - Almond Oil Daily Hand & Nail Cream: I bought this bottle when it was on sale after the holidays (€12 instead of €20). Great deal for 250ml (8.4US oz). I love the smell and the pump makes it super easy to get just enough product. The cream sinks into your skin super fast and leaves it nice and soft.

That's all for january. Not alot of products, but I blame the exams for that!

Thanks for stopping by!
