Green Tips

A much better tip than my last stamped one.
Zoya Apple stamped with Konad Special Black

This was the inspiration, my boyfriends shirt. It's my favorite that he has because it doesn't have a picture of Green Lanturn on it and doesn't have any stupid sayings. XD

Nail of the Day: Wednesday 13th July, 2011

My last nail polish began to chip and I decided I wanted to wear a nail polish of mine that I haven't tried out before.

This is a colour I brought home for my friend Emma when I do her manicure next time she comes over. The colour is China Glaze "Entourage", a light lime green shimmer which is pretty much opaque in three coats.

I kinda like this colour, just something bright and cheery in the cold winter weather. Something different than what I normally wear. To be honest, I used to think that green nail polish used to make your nails look like they were diseased, but this colour doesn't really have that effect.

On a different note, I noticed something today. Recently I have been watching a few Jack Nicholson movies, which include "Something's Gotta Give", "As Good As It Gets" and "The Bucket List" to be exact, an in all these movies they have one song in common, "La Via En Rose" by Louis Armstrong. Just a little bit of trivia for you lol.

Wet n Wild Comfort Zone Palette Swatches & Comparisons

I was at Walgreens and finally decided to purchase another Wet n Wild 8 pan palette. I really love the blue palette, Blue Had Me At Hello (see my other post here! It's one of my very first blog posts too! hehe) and decided why not! It was $4.99 and for this type of quality, its a complete steal. Here's some pictures and very hastily done swatches!

Swatched the left column top to bottom first, then right column! Are these pigmented or what!
The Wet N Wild eyeshadows are really buttery soft and very vibrant. The only bad thing is that they are almost too soft, so you have to be very careful when applying. Make sure to pat them onto a good base to avoid lots of fallout and don't over blend! That's just my two cents on how to use them! :)
Left Column
Right Column

Tried finding some dupes among my eyeshadows. You may have to click on the pictures to enlarge in order to read the eyeshadow names on the pictures!

Ambition is more gold, femme-fi is more peach, and virgin is not as shimmery!

Mac Jardin aires is a more shimmery pinky coral while Wet n Wild is more brown while Urban Decay Sin is more cool and pinker.
Mac tempting is much lighter and a touch more orange while Urban Decay is a bit darker but in the same shade!
Now THIS is a dupe! Can you even tell which is which? Wet N Wild is on the left while Nars Mekong is on the right. The color is almost exactly the same, but to be honest I prefer the Nars texture for this one. For such a dark color, I find Wet N Wild's buttery, soft texture to be more difficult to work with than the Nars (which is also buttery, but not as crumbly if that makes sense!). Also, all the fallout you see in the picture is from the Wet N Wild. Other than that, this is a really amazing dupe and if you want a cheaper alternative to Nars Mekong, you won't get closer than this!
Couldn't find anything similar to the right column browbone color. I've heard that it's supposedly a dupe for Mac Vex, but I don't have that color.
For the right column eyelid color, I don't have any dupes (I really don't own many true greens! So this is great for my eyeshadow collection!) Rock & Republic Chronic is a darker.
Couldn't find a dupe here either. Mac Humid and Rock & Republic Envy are much more green while Rock & Republic Snakeskin is not nearly as dark. In person the Wet N Wild color has a much greener tinge to it (the camera didn't pick it up completely).
Ahhh my favorite color of the palette. I don't have any dupes for this duochrome although I've heard Mac Club is supposedly similar. I swatched Mac Shimmermoss next to it since I thought I thought the teal/blue flash in the Wet N Wild looked similar! On the right is Nars Dogon, which is also a duochrome (completely different shade though and is more taupe than brown). Very pretty color and I would have gladly paid more just for this color!

Hope the swatches and pictures were helpful! I found mine at my Walgreens. I honestly feel that these eyeshadows are incredible quality for the price tag. I can be somewhat of an eyeshadow snob since they are my favorite makeup product and these are definitely in the same league as many of my more expensive eyeshadows! I also love that many of these colors are unique to my collection (especially the right column since I don't own a lot of greens!).

Have you tried Wet n Wild eyeshadows? What do you think?

Tutorial: Smokey Olive and Gold Look

Hi guys,

This is the long awaited new tutorial that has been a long time coming. Sorry it has been so long since I have been able to upload one but I haven't been feeling up to doing much lately because the winter chill has really gotten to me. Anyway, enough excuses and on to the look!

This is a really simple gold and olive-green smokey look that would be perfect for any time of the day/night. It is created using a limited edition product (Techtonic mineralize eye shadow from the Flashtronic Collection ['07]) but this colour can easily be duped with any other olive gold eye shadow.

EYES:
- Indianwood paint pot
- Gorgeous Gold eye shadow
- Techtonic mineralise eye shadow
- Inglot #731 (matte olive) eye shadow
- Humid eye shadow
- Vanilla eye shadow
- Nylon eye shadow
- Blacktrack fluidline
- Smolder eyeliner
- Ardell "117" lashes

CHEEKS:
- Inglot #34 (peach with gold shimmer) blush

LIPS:
- Hug Me lipstick
- Inglot #545 (orange with multicolour reflects) lipsgloss

I hope you enjoyed this look, please let me know if you try it out :)

Nail of the Day: Tuesday 28th June, 2011

I decided to change my nail colour today because my previous nail polish had been chipping with the things that I had been during my week.

Yesterday was my 8 months with my boyfriend, Stuart, so I got him to pick out this nail colour for me. China Glaze "Gussied Up Green" is a blackened dark blue green which shines really bright when the light hits it. This polish is also from the Rodeo Diva Collection (2008) like the last nail polish I posted.

This was definitely my favorite polish from this collection because I don't own that many green nail polishes and I love the darker tone of this.

I really love wearing dark colours like this in winter. I like how they appear really dark on their own but when the light hits them the show up a flash of colour. What are your favorite polishes for winter?

Nail of the Day: Thursday 23rd June, 2011

This week I have been feeling really sick and I haven't been in too much of a happy mood so I decided to paint my nails to make me feel better. The nail polish I chose to use is called China Glaze "Wagon Trail" and is from their Rodeo Diva Collection from 2008. (I currently only have pictures from my old blog to post of my nail polish so I'll update this properly another time.)

As you can see it is a black with a deep golden shimmer. In some lights it can have an olive green look to it but its really is black and gold and is very unique.

I haven't found anything else like this in all my nail polish searching (mind you, I'm not as hung up on nail polish as some people).

I felt like this was the perfect colour for me at the moment because its been so cold and gloomy at my place the past few days with it being winter, I felt like I needed a dark base with a gold flash that might brighten up my day.

Nail Foils Collection and Descriptions - Green Foils

I was a little upset when I looked at the foils avaliable on Dollar Nail Art and there were not that many foils in green. I have found this with many nail polishes too that they don't produce a wide variety of green polishes within any company. Oh well.

In this post I will be showing you product photos, close ups of each foil and also giving you a short description on what I think they foils look like.

If you do not know what nail art foil is or how to use it please follow this link here to my Introduction to Nail Foils post for more information.

 Elven Gold:
Elven Gold is a mix of moss green, a deep forest green and gold. The look of this foil is similar to using the sponge technique to apply nail polish. This is a matte foil also and isn't reflective like Emerald or Seafoam Green.

 Emerald Frost:
Emerald Frost is an emerald green based foil with a water ripple pattern to it similar to Scarlet Frost or Tanzanite Fire. The ripples of this pattern throw out holographic flashes of green, teal, blue and gold as the light hits it.

 Emerald Green:
As its name suggests, Emerald is a metallic emerald green foil with mirror like reflect to it. This foil has no patter and is only a solid colour foil.

 Green Lightbeam:
Green Lightbeam as the name suggests is an emerald green based foil with lines of holographic lightbeams along the width of the nail. The lightbeams reflect green, teal, blue and gold depending on how the light hits it. To see a photo of this foil and a short video of light hitting the foil please check out Tartofraises1‬‎'s video and blog post here.

 Lime AB:
Lime AB is another foil that is similar to Gold Spectrum but with a lime green base. As the light hits this foil it reflects teal, dark green and blue. The effect created when applied to the nail is lines of holographic awesomeness. To see this foil in action, please check out Miss80Million's tutorial on Youtube by clicking here

 Seafoam Green:
Seafoam Green foil is a light grey green foil with a mirror-like reflecting metallic finish. Like Emerald, this foil has no pattern and is a solid colour foil

Nouveau Monde Part 2, Smokey Edition FOTD

I hope I'm not a terribly boring blogger showing repetitive looks but...here's a second FOTD using Nars Nouveau Monde duo eyeshadow. I wanted to intensify the smokiness of this duo, so I added a bit of Mac Humid to the outer-v to make it more nighttime appropriate! I think it definitely enhanced the combo even more!
Also, I decided to search through my camera's manual and actually read it so I would know how to properly use it (only 8 months later hehe)...I changed some settings and I think the colors are much more true to life in the close up photos now.
